Auburn - Old Train Depot

Auburn - Old Train Depot

Share

The 3rd depot at Auburn since 1847, it was constructed in 1904. It was designed in the Richardsonian Romanesque style by AU architecture student, Ralph Dudley. The last passenger train stopped here in 1970 and the depot has been vacant since 2003. It was named one of the 10 "Places in Peril" in the State of Alabama in 2010.

Some people report of a wailing woman who was killed by a train a long time ago. If you go one night, you might hear her and a faint whistle of the train that tried to warn her. It is also said that if you go in there, no matter where you go, you always come back to the spot where you came in. The building is old, so enter at your own risk. And as always, make sure you are not trespassing. Many of the places listed are patrolled by the police.
